Pearls Before Swine and Other Critters

If you live in NYC you already know that the weather has been absolutely bizarre. Unseasonably warm and beautiful. Extremely pleasant, mind you, but unnerving in imagining the temperature to continue climbing as we head towards summer. Normally we would still be wearing our winter coats, yet yesterday it reached 88 degrees! With tropical-like warmth, my mind wandered off to exotic locations. Crystal blue water, shimmering sand, and, naturally, PEARLS! Nothing feels as sensuous on the skin as a beautifully formed pearl; lustrous, luminous, and the only gem created by a bivalve. But since oysters are not very attractive, I’ve photographed these natural beauties (none are dyed or treated) with animals that are more visually appealing.

MultiPearls

Check out this strand that is a mix of Fresh Water (the pinks and peach tones), Tahitian( grays and whites), and South Sea (goldens) pearls. Moose love them.

PINK! Don’t you just LOVE them?

And I always say “Go for Baroque”. OK, I don’t always say that. Maybe never. But with this Baroque Pearl necklace, I definitely think you should go for it.

And speaking of Baroque… Wowza! If I were an oyster, I would want to create one of these wildly formed beauties.

What a visual feast! Which are your favorites?
